Pensacola’s Brian Billett is named Warrior Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (March 26, 2019) –Today, Pensacola’s Brian Billett was named Warrior Player of the Week by the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) for the week of March 18 to March 24.

Over the weekend, Billett and Pensacola Ice Flyers hosted the Macon Mayhem for a two-game series. Billett went 2-0-0 against the Mayhem, had one shutout, 0.981 SV% and only allowed one goal during the weekend series.

“Brian comes to the rink for practice or games focused and dedicated to his team. Goaltending is such a vital part of our game and he has stepped his game up to a high level in a crucial time of our season,” said Rod Aldoff, head coach of the Pensacola Ice Flyers. “He’s a pleasure to coach and I’m happy for him in his
success.”

On Friday, Pensacola took the lead in the first period and Macon was unable to stop the home team. The Ice Flyers scored a shorthanded goal in the second period and Billett held Macon scoreless. Billett shut out the Mayhem, made 29 saves and helped Pensacola defeat Macon, 2-0.

The Ice Flyers had another successful evening on Saturday. The home team and Macon battled and the score remained at zero until the Ice Flyers put one in the net early in the third period. Macon answered with a goal of their own. However, the Ice Flyers overpowered the away team and scored two more goals. The Mayhem could not find redemption as Billett held the away team, made 23 saves and led Pensacola to a 3-1 victory.
