Knoxville’s Zane Steeves named Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (February 13, 2024) – The SPHL announced today that Zane Steeves of the Knoxville Ice Bears has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week for February 5-11.

Steeves went 2-0-0 with a 2.98 goals-against average and a 0.937 save percentage as he guided the Ice Bears to a pair of wins over Fayetteville and Roanoke.

On Friday, Steeves made 30 saves as he backstopped the Ice Bears to a 5-2 victory over the Marksmen. The following night, Steeves was brilliant in net, stopping 57 of 61 shots in a 5-4 overtime win over the Rail Yard Dawgs, Despite being outshot 60-23 in regulation and making 42 saves over the first two periods alone. Both Steeves’ 57 saves and Roanoke’s 61 shots were single-game highs for the season.

Now in his fourth professional season, the Red Deer, Alberta native has amassed a 3-4-1 record, 3.89 goals against average, and a .915 save % in 11 games with the Ice Bears.
