Short-Handed Storm Fall Short Versus Roanoke

The Quad City Storm dropped their second straight game versus Roanoke at the TaxSlayer Center Friday night by a score of 3-2.

Playing without Cody Walsh, Dalton Mills and Stephen Gaul the Storm saw Roanoke get on the board first with a goal that appeared to be deflected by the high stick of Colin Murray.  The goal would stand at 2:30 of the first period and the one goal lead lasted through the period.

In the second the Storm struck first on their most impressive power-play in some time.  The puck only left the zone one time in 1:20 of PP time before Dean Yakura tipped a Sean Kacerosky point shot past Roanoke goaltender Henry Dill to make it 1-1.

Quad City carried momentum throughout most of the second, but Roanoke grabbed it back late off a goal no one saw coming.  Alex Adams, in his first game back from ECHL Brampton elected to shoot from along the wall and snuck it by Peter Di Salvo to give his team the lead again.

Di Salvo was the hero of the game for the Storm.  Despite the loss, the Mad Dog made highlight reel save after highlight reel save in the first two periods to keep his team in the game.

Roanoke scored a power play goal at 4:27 of the third period to lead 3-1 and went into a trap to suffocate the neutral zone for Quad City.

Tommy Tsicos made it a one-goal game while laying on the ice, scraping the puck from the corner on net and catching Dill off guard.

The Storm could not find the equalizer in the end and dropped the middle game of the week-three series.
