Ice Flyers Are Young Again with Another OT Win

Blake Young is making a habit of the dramatic.

The Ice Flyers rookie winger scored his second game-winning, overtime goal in as many games Saturday night in a 3-2 comeback win against the Quad City Storm, beginning a two-game weekend series at the Bay Center in crowd-pleasing style.

“I might pinch myself and wake up right away here,” said Young, jokingly. “No, we are all working hard out there and I happened to get a lucky bounce.

“Obviously you want to win in regulation, but it shows there is no quit in our team. Even if we have to play that extra five minutes we can still believe we can win the game.”

It was the Ice Flyers (5-2) third overtime win in four home games. Young scored midway through the five-minute overtime Saturday, which was just slightly shorter than when he lit the lamp last Saturday in a 3-2 win against Birmingham.
