Quad City’s Cole Golka named Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (March 5, 2024) – The SPHL announced today that Cole Golka of the Quad City Storm has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week for February 26 – March 3.

Golka tallied three goals, added two assists, and was +4 as Quad City swept Evansville over the weekend, extending their winning streak to five as the Storm have gone 8-2-0 in their last 10 games.

After finding themselves down 1-0 early in the first period on Friday, Golka assisted on two Quad City tallies to give the Storm a 2-1 lead at the first intermission. Golka then scored his 23rd goal of the season to give the Storm the lead halfway through the second period before adding an empty net goal in the third period as the Storm defeated the Thunderbolts 6-3.

On Saturday, Golka opened the scoring with a goal late in the first period as Quad City would go on to defeat Evansville 3-2.

With his five-point week, the Ardrossan, Alberta native now ranks second on the Storm with 25 goals and is ­­­­third with 41 points.
