HUNTERSVILLE, NC (November 7, 2023) – The SPHL announced today that Bair Gendunov of the Evansville Thunderbolts has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week for October 30-November 5.
Gendunov tallied four goals and two assists with a +1 rating, leading the Thunderbolts to three out of a possible four points against Macon over the weekend.
On Friday, Macon jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Gendunov scored one goal and assisted on two power play tallies as Evansville tied things before the first intermission. Gendunov picked up his second goal early in the third period as the Thunderbolts rallied to defeat the Mayhem 6-5 in a shootout. On Saturday, Gendunov found the back of the net twice, his third and fourth goals of the weekend, as Evansville again overcame a 3-0 deficit before falling 4-3 to the Mayhem in overtime.
The Toronto, Ontario native is tied for second in the SPHL with eight points (4g, 4a), while ranking third (tied) with four goals. Gendunov’s four goals, four assists, and eight points lead the team.
