Fayetteville’s Simon Boyko named Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (March 19, 2024) – The SPHL announced today that Simon Boyko of the Fayetteville Marksmen has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week for March 11-17.

Boyko tallied seven goals, added two assists, and was +4 as Fayetteville went 3-0-0 with wins over Roanoke and Knoxville.

Boyko didn’t miss a beat after returning from ECHL Rapid City, recording the hat trick and adding an assist in a 6-2 victory over the Rail Yard Dawgs on Thursday morning. The following night, Boyko scored two goals and assisted on a third as Fayetteville routed Knoxville 10-4.

On Saturday, Boyko opened the scoring in the first period with a power play tally, before adding his 25th goal of the season halfway through the second as the Marksmen cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Ice Bears.

With his nine-point week, the Mississauga, Ontario native now ranks second among rookies with 46 points, and 25 goals while his 21 assists are tied for third.

Honorable Mention: Peoria’s Nick Latinovich recorded two shutouts against Quad City over the weekend, tying the SPHL single-season shutout record with seven.
