Storm Battle To OT, Fall 5-4

The Storm came out on the wrong side of a one-goal game for the 14th time this season.  The Birmingham Bulls won in overtime and continued their league leading four-game win streak.

Birmingham got out to a 2-0 lead in period one off of goals from Caleb Apperson and Justin Larson.

Out of the first intermission the Storm struck first and made it 2-1 with Stephen Gaul’s first goal of the season.   Michael Casale and Ben Boukal picked up the assists.

The momentum didn’t last long for the hosts.  Twenty-seconds later Birmingham regained their two-goal cushion courtesy of Shane Topf.

QC didn’t hang their heads and their effort was rewarded ten minutes and ten seconds after the Topf goal when John Scully cut into the Birmingham lead with a perfectly placed one-timer, pass courtesy of Tommy Tsicos.  Twenty-seven seconds later the game was tied when Vincent Beaudry dazzled the puck through two Bulls off the faceoff and ripped a snapshot by Sebastian Andersson to make it 3-3.

Tied heading into the third Quad City grabbed their first lead of the game after Dean Yakura jammed home a rebound putting the Storm up 4-3.

Justin Larson answered the bell off an odd man rush for Birmingham to tie the game at four and eventually force overtime.

In OT both teams exchanged chances before Josh Harris went end to end, slipping just around Cody Walsh and rolling a puck up the paddle of Ryan Mulder, sealing the game 5-4 for B-Ham.

The Storm are back tomorrow at 2:00 to take on the Bulls again for Pucks And Paws day!!  Get your tickets at QuadCityStorm.com.
