SPHL mourns loss of former Ice Flyer Wiesblatt

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (September 15, 2025) – The SPHL and its member teams mourn the loss and express their condolences to the family and friends of former SPHL player Orca Wiesblatt, who passed away Sunday at the age of 25 following an automobile accident.

Wiesblatt, a native of Calgary, Alberta, spent parts of four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Calgary before turning pro and signing with Pensacola for the 2023-2024 season. Unfortunately, an injury sidelined him after only four games with the Ice Flyers. In 2024-25, Wiesblatt played for the FPHL’s Athens Rock Lobsters, where he scored 17 goals and added 25 assists in 37 games, and had signed a contract with the ECHL’s Allen Americans for the upcoming season.
