HUNTERSVILLE, NC (July 29, 2025) – The SPHL announced Tuesday it will drop the puck for its 22nd season on Friday, October 17, with two games headlining Opening Night.
The season kicks off with the Evansville Thunderbolts traveling to Birmingham to face the Bulls while the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs welcome the Huntsville Havoc to the Berglund Center.
Three more teams take the ice for their fans on Saturday, October 18, as the Fayetteville Marksmen host the Knoxville Ice Bears, the Pensacola Ice Flyers welcome the Macon Mayhem, and the Peoria Rivermen make the short trip up I-74 to Moline to take on the Quad City Storm.
Friday, October 24 has three more home openers as Huntsville hosts Pensacola, Roanoke travels to Knoxville to face the Ice Bears, and the Rivermen welcome Fayetteville to the Peoria Civic Center.
The SPHL closes out the home openers on Saturday, October 25, as the Evansville Thunderbolts will raise their first President’s Cup Championship banner before taking on Quad City, while the Macon Mayhem will host Huntsville.
