HUNTERSVILLE, NC (July 23, 2024) – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced Tuesday it will drop the puck for its 21st season on Friday, October 18 with three games headlining Opening Night.
The season kicks off with a pair of rivalry games as the Birmingham Bulls host Huntsville and Fayetteville travels to Roanoke for the front end of a home-and-home with the Rail Yard Dawgs. Moving north, the Evansville Thunderbolts welcome Knoxville to Ford Arena to close out the night.
Four more teams hit the ice for their home opener on Saturday, October 19 as the Fayetteville Marksmen host Roanoke, the Mayhem welcome Birmingham to the Macon Centreplex, the Pensacola Ice Flyers take on Huntsville and Peoria makes the short trip up I-74 to take on the Quad City Storm.
Friday, October 25 has the final three home openers of the 2024-2025 season as the Peoria Rivermen will raise their second President’s Cup Championship banner prior to taking on Roanoke. Finally, the Huntsville Havoc host Pensacola while the Knoxville Ice Bears welcome Quad City to the Civic Coliseum.
