HUNTERSVILLE, NC (December 5, 2019) – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced that Darren McCormick of the Peoria Rivermen was named the Warrior Player of the Month for October/November.
McCormick scored 13 goals in 13 games, including six game-winners and five first goals, added six assists and was +15 as Peoria went 11-1-1, the best start in franchise history. McCormick also scored a goal in 11 consecutive games, now the second-longest streak in SPHL history and just one
shy of Bryan Dobek’s record of 12, set in the 2006-2007 season with the Fayetteville FireAntz.
A native of Buffalo, NY, McCormick recorded seven multi-point games and tallied the game-winning goal in four consecutive wins from November 1-9. Now in his fourth SPHL season, McCormick was acquired by the Rivermen in an off-season trade with Fayetteville, where he recorded 23 goals and 41 points for the Marksmen last year. McCormick currently leads the SPHL in goals (13), points (19), game-winning goals (six) and plus-minus rating (+15).
Before turning pro, McCormick played three seasons at SUNY-Cortland, where he was named 2016-2017 NCAA III (SUNYAC) Third Team All-Conference.
