HUNTERSVILLE, NC (Feb. 12, 2019) – Today, Pensacola’s Brian Billett was named Warrior Player of the Week by the Southern Professional Hockey League for the week of Feb. 4 to Feb. 10.
Over the weekend, netminder Billett recorded a pair of wins (2-0-0) against the Macon Mayhem. In addition to a 0.97 goals-against average and .964 save percentage for the weekend, Billett had one shutout.
“Brian has really picked his game up and has taken charge. He has played great and is playing with confidence,” said Rod Aldoff, head coach of the Ice Flyers. “He has been a big part of why we are playing well right now and gives our team a chance to win every night.”
On Friday night, Pensacola faced Macon for the first game out of a two-game weekend series. Billett made 27 saves and the Ice Flyers defeated the Mayhem in a 3-2 victory. The following night, Billett held Macon scoreless, made 26 saves and Pensacola won 3-0 over Macon in front of a crowd of over 8,000 fans.
