Pensacola’s Brian Billett is named SPHL Player of the Month

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (April 10, 2019) –  Today, the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) named Brian Billett of the Pensacola Ice Flyers the Player of the Month for March.

 

Last month, Billett had a record of 6-1-2 and had three shutouts. In addition, he had a 1.48 GAA, made 211 saves and a .942 SV%. Billett sits in the top tier for SPHL goaltender statistics. He ranks third in the league for GAA (2.11), fourth in wins (19), and second for save
percentage (.926).

 

“Brian has played superb. He has been our best player and continues to work and lead extremely well on and off the ice for our team,” said Rod Aldoff, head coach of the Pensacola Ice Flyers. “I’m very happy for him for this well deserved accolade.”

 

The Ice Flyer’s goaltender recorded his first shutout of the month against the Evansville Thunderbolts and secured a 5-0 victory for his team. About a week later, Billett held the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs scoreless in another 5-0 win after stopping a total of 40 shots. Later in March, the Ice Flyers took on the Macon Mayhem and Billett made 29 saves, tallied up another shutout and Pensacola defeated Macon 2-0.
