Macon’s CJ Hayes named Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (March 28, 2023) – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that CJ Hayes of the Macon Mayhem has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week for March, 21-26.

Hayes scored two goals, picked up four assists, and was +4 in three games as Macon split games against the Knoxville Ice Bears and defeated the third-place Huntsville Havoc to close out the weekend.

On Friday, Hayes was a part of the Mayhem’s onslaught on offense. He picked up two assists, the latter coming on the game-tying goal in the third period as Macon defeated Knoxville 7-5. On Saturday, Hayes did all of his work in the first period, picking up two assists before scoring a goal with 4:46 remaining that put Macon ahead 4-3. The Ice Bears, however, would come back to win 8-6. In Sunday’s bout with Huntsville, Hayes once again scored, this time in the third period, putting the Mayhem ahead 3-1. Macon would get a game-winning goal from Rhett Kingston on the powerplay with 2:32 remaining to secure the win for Macon as they defeated Huntsville 5-4.

The Margate, FL native is tied for third on the Mayhem in points (28), fourth in goals, (12), and tied for fourth in assists (16). This is Macon’s second Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week award this season.
