HUNTERSVILLE, NC (March 5, 2019) – Today, the Southern Professional Hockey League announced that Josh Koepplinger was named the Warrior Player of the Week for Feb. 25 to March 3.
Koepplinger made his professional debut with the Mayhem on Thursday, Feb. 28 and already proved to be a positive addition to the team. In his first three games, he scored five goals and had three assists.
“This is a huge accomplishment for Josh and well deserved. Having this kind of start to his professional career and the spark he has given our club has made our team better,” said Leo Thomas, head coach of the Macon Mayhem. “He has fit in very nicely with our team.”
During Koepplinger’s first game on Thursday, Feb. 28, he scored the only goal for the Mayhem in a 3-1 loss against the Birmingham Bulls. The following night, Macon took on the Fayetteville Marksmen and the left-winger contributed a pair of goals to help lead the Mayhem to a 4-3 victory.
Koepplinger’s successful weekend did not end there. When playing the Marksmen on Saturday, he broke a Mayhem franchise record by scoring five points in a single game, two goals and three assists. This was a feat that has not previously been accomplished by a Macon player.
