HUNTERSVILLE, NC (January 3, 2024) – The SPHL announced today that Simon Boyko of the Fayetteville Marksmen has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Month for December 2023.
Boyko tallied 16 points, eight goals, and eight assists, and had a +3 rating over 10 games played for the Marksmen last month.
Boyko has recorded a point in each of the last 14 games he has appeared in dating back to November, 17 and he has recorded a point in every game the Marksmen played in December. Boyko tallied four multi-point performances, including a four-point night (2g, 2a) against the Knoxville Ice Bears on December 29th. The winger has been a part of the rookie resurgence in Fayetteville as the Marksmen sit second in the standings nearly halfway through the SPHL regular season.
The Mississauga, ON native currently leads the SPHL in shots (102), while leading all rookies in points (26), goals (14), powerplay points (10), powerplay goals (5) and powerplay assists (5).
Boyko helped lead Fayetteville to a 7-2-1 record in December, keeping them just two points off the pace of first-place Birmingham.
