Peoria’s Alec Baer Named SPHL Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (December 20, 2022) – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Alec Baer of the Peoria Rivermen has been named the Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week for December 12-18.

Baer tallied four goals, added three assists and was +2 as Peoria split a pair of games with Quad City while picking up a win over Vermilion County on Sunday afternoon.

After being held scoreless, in their 4-3 overtime loss to the Storm on Friday, Baer scored the opening goal of what would be a three-goal, one assist night and a scoring clinic as the Rivermen broke open a 3-3 tie with six goals in the third en route to a 9-4 victory. Baer scored in each period as he notched to his second career SPHL hat trick. On Sunday, Baer once again opened the scoring for the Rivermen, and would tack on two assists in a 5-2 victory over Vermilion County.

With the seven-point weekend, the St. Louis Park, MN native added to his already impressive totals for December. In eight games Baer has recorded 14 points (8g, 6a) which leads all SPHL players.
