NEWSSurge drub late-arriving Havoc
By Gene Coleman, Biloxi Sun Herald BILOXI -- Jay Silvia's two goals and one assist led the Surge as they commanded a 5-1 win over the Huntsville Havoc. The Surge took command in the second period. They outshot the Havoc 18 to five and scored three goals to give themselves a lead they would not relinquish. Silvia got things going with a power-play goal 59 seconds in. The Havoc's Chapen LeBlond had a nice shot that got past goalie Kiefer Smiley at 9:46. The tie was short-lived as Adam Stuart hit Reid Edmondson, who was set far right of the net and quickly made the go-ahead goal. Silvia assisted on the goal. The Surge failed to capitalize on three back-to-back, power-play opportunities that followed. However, with 10 seconds remaining Jarkko Leppanen hit a speeding Silvia who struck from the left of goalie Jonathan LaRose to give the Surge a 3-1 lead going into the third.
