Despite one-man advantage over short-staffed Havoc, Snakes drop 2-1 decision

The Columbus Cottonmouths played three games in three nights after a four-day break for Christmas.

After an overtime loss to Huntsville, the Snakes captured three of a possible six points this weekend.

The Havoc earned the 2-1 victory despite having a roster depleted by suspensions. On Friday night, the Havoc and Mississippi Surge engaged in a massive brawl late in the game, resulting in the suspension of forwards Chapen LeBlond and Corey Fulton and defensemen Bill Baker and Matt Smyth. The Havoc put only 13 skaters on the ice.

The Snakes skated 14, missing co-captain Orrin Hergott and defenseman Tommy Fitzpatrick.

Co-captain Sam Bowles credited the Havoc with their response to adversity.

"We've been in that position," Bowles said of Huntsville's short roster. "Teams rally when that happens and that's what they did. Kudos to them. It was a gut check for their guys and they responded."
