Knoxville Ice Bears wing Matt Pierce had a world of reasons to celebrate Saturday night.
Pierce had a goal and two assists as the Ice Bears beat the Mississippi RiverKings 7-5 in a Southern Professional Hockey League game before 3,476 fans at Civic Coliseum.
Among those attending were Pierce's wife, Alyssa, and their daughter, Walker Fallon, who was born Dec. 17 in Evansville, Ind. They moved to Knoxville earlier this week and will live here the rest of the season.
"It's amazing having them here," Pierce said. "Having your little girl at your games when you're having a big weekend is just a great feeling."
Knoxville (13-9-1) broke a four-game losing streak at home.
"It's been a struggle since before Christmas just trying to get a win in our home building," said Pierce, who missed last weekend's games to be with his wife and daughter.
"It's not that we've always been playing bad. We had some nights when the bounces weren't going our way."
