Matt Gingera's arrival sparks Cottonmouths' turnaround

Columbus' Matt Gingera and Chris Bailer have been teammates before.
The two played on the same team at Sacred Heart University for the past four seasons.
After that, Gingera headed for Chicago of the ECHL and Tulsa of the Central Hockey League. Meanwhile, Bailer signed with the Cottonmouths.
"Tulsa was a good situation," Gingera said. "It just didn't work out. I wasn't getting the ice time and it wasn't the right chemistry."
While in Tulsa, Gingera kept hearing about Bailer's experience with the Snakes.
"We'd text and use Skype," Gingera said. "I was jealous. It seemed like he was having fun. Wishes do come true. I don't regret coming here."
Gingera, who joined the Snakes on Dec. 1, says it is 100 percent better in Columbus.
"The ownership, team and coaches are like a family," Gingera said. "I want to be happy off the ice, too."
Bailer's wasn't the only familiar face to greet Gingera.
"I knew Jason Yuel through a few years of juniors and knew of Ian Vigier and Andrew Loewen, though I hadn't met them," Gingera said.
