NEWSIce Flyers hold off Surge
By Gene Coleman, Biloxi Sun Herald BILOXI -- In an action-packed game that included five second-period goals, the visiting Pensacola Ice Flyers stayed one step ahead of a fired up Mississippi Surge team to win 4-3 on Saturday. The Surge set the tone for the night when they came out hitting hard with the drop of the puck as a fight broke out between Kyle Kudroch and the Ice Flyers' William Foster. In a fast-paced first period both teams seemed evenly matched. The Ice Flyers kept cool heads to put up the first goal at 13:25 when Steve Bergin took a shot across the goal and Brent Clarke found an open net for the score. The Ice Flyers came up big again at 15:53 when Aaron Schmit hit the net for a 2-0 lead. In the high-scoring second period, the Surge managed to gain a little ground when Matt Gordon scored at 6:53 on a pass from Kudroch. Click here to go back to news articles |
