NEWSDate: Mar 11, 2010 Surge Begin Stretch Run Of Season Against Ice FlyersBy Doug Barber, Biloxi Sun Herald BILOXI - The league-leading Mississippi Surge return to the Coast Coliseum today, facing Pensacola in a first of three games over the next four days. The puck falls at 7:35 p.m. Then the Surge (29-11-8, 66 points) visit Pensacola (22-19-8) on Friday at 7:05 p.m. The Surge close out the flurry of activity with a home game on Sunday against Columbus at 5 p.m. Fayetteville (30-17) is in second place in the Southern Professional Hockey League with 62 points. "We went to Huntsville and took care of business, winning in a shootout,'' Surge coach Steffon Walby said. "Then we played a solid road game with a 3-0 win over Lafayette on Sunday. "We've had a couple of days of practice and I can tell they are ready to play again. There's nothing like three to four days to recharge the batteries.'' Keeper Bill Zaniboni was up for Sherwood SPHL Player of the Week honors after one shutout in two games. Fayetteville's Rob Sich gained the weekly honor. "Pensacola has been a hot-and-cold team,'' Walby said. "They haven't gotten much ice time (at home). They've had success against us.
