Snakes Ready for Busy March, Playoff Run
The Columbus Cottonmouths have an action-packed final month of the regular season before they begin their quest for the 2010 President's Cup. The Snakes remaining schedule features nine games in 16 days, with five of those at the Snake Pit.
The Snakes will host a radio remote at the Circle K on Bradley Park Drive this Thursday, March 11 from 4-6 p.m. Fans can pick up free tailgate passes for Saturday's game, and register to win one of 12 rinkside suite tickets for the game. Free hot dogs and beverages will be available at the tailgate, courtesy of B&B Beverage and Centerplate.
On Friday, March 12, the Cottonmouths will host their annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal to throw on the ice when the Snakes score their first goal. Stuffed animals will be collected by Columbus Fire and EMS, and given to children who have been involved in traumatic events. Stuffed bears will be available at the Snakes souvenir stand for $5, while they last. The Snakes face the Huntsville Havoc at 7:30 p.m.
The Cottonmouths will make a second attempt to land in the Guinness Book of World Records when they host the Pensacola Ice Flyers Saturday, March 13. Each fan through the gates will receive a kazoo, and certificate of participation as we will attempt to break the world record for the largest kazoo ensemble during the first intermission. ‘Kazoo Take Two' is presented by My Gym and Epperly Tire and Auto Center.
Thursday and Friday, March 18 and 19 will be the Snakes player card giveaways, courtesy of Carmike Cinemas. Set #1 will be given to the first 1000 fans Thursday, and set #2 will go out to the first 1000 fans Friday. The final set will be distributed at Hollywood Connection on Sunday, March 21 from 1-3 p.m. Thursday is also Dollar Days with $2 draft beers and $1 nachos, and Georgia Lottery Night, with the first 500 fans, 18+, receiving a scratch off ticket.
Thursday, March 25 will be the Snakes regular season finale. It's Fan Appreciation Night. Fans will have several great chances to win prizes and giveaways. It's also Dollar Days with $1 hotdogs and $2 draft beer.
The Snakes are closing in on a spot in the SPHL playoffs. Any combination of Columbus wins and Louisiana losses totaling eight standing points will clinch a sixth consecutive playoff berth for the Snakes. The Cottonmouths currently sit in the sixth and final playoff spot, but mathematically can still finish as high as second in the standings.
Playoff packages are on sale now. The seven-game playoff package includes one ticket for each of the possible seven post-season home games. Any tickets for games that are not played will be credited to next year's season tickets. A refund is also available if necessary. Individual playoff game tickets will go on sale Monday, March 22. A playoff schedule and opponents will likely not be determined until the final weekend of the regular season.
Season ticket holders can renew their seats for the 2010-2011 season by putting down a $25 deposit. Renewal sheets will be available at the Cricket Fan Activities Center for our remaining home games, or fans can call or stop by the Snakes office. Season tickets not renewed by July 1, 2010 will be opened to the public.
