NEWSDate: Mar 02, 2010 SPHL Hands Down Louisiana Suspensions, FinesCHARLOTTE, NC - Following its review, the SPHL today announced disciplinary action resulting from incidents occurring in Game #152, Knoxville at Louisiana, played on February 25. Louisiana defenseman Jason Hamilton has been suspended eight games for his actions whereby he was assessed a major for fighting and a game misconduct under Rule 47.2, Aggressor and a game misconduct under Rule 40.5, Verbal Abuse of an Official. In addition, Mr. Hamilton sucker-punched a Knoxville player, causing injury. Mr. Hamilton has served two games of his suspension, missing games against Pensacola on Saturday, February 27 and at Mississippi on Sunday, February 28. Mr. Hamilton will also miss games against Columbus on Saturday, March 6, against Mississippi on Sunday, March 7, against Huntsville on Saturday, March 13, at Pensacola on Tuesday, March 16, at Huntsville on Thursday, March 18 and at Columbus on Friday, March 19. In addition, Mr. Hamilton has been fined an undisclosed amount for his actions. Louisiana forward Paul McBrien has been suspended two games as a result of accumulating his fifth game misconduct of the season. In this game, he was assessed a major and a game misconduct under Rule 61.5, Slashing. Mr. McBrien has completed both games of his suspension, missing games against Pensacola on Saturday, February 27 and at Mississippi on Sunday, February 28. Louisiana coach Dave MacIsaac has been suspended one game for his actions whereby he was assessed two game misconducts. Mr. MacIsaac has completed his suspension, missing the game against Pensacola on Saturday, February 27. Louisiana equipment manager Frank Jury has been fined for his actions whereby he was assessed a game misconduct. |
